Now Hiring

April 23rd, 2012 - The Wintergreen Property Owners Association, Department of Fire & Rescue is seeking individuals capable of providing Advanced Cardiac Life Support.  Virginia EMT-Intermediate licensure is required, Nationally Registered Paramedic is preferred.  All applicants must have at least one year of experience practicing at an ACLS level with no suspensions in their privileges.

We currently have three openings.  These positions are newly created and will become a part of our “County Crew” which augments the efforts of EMS volunteers on a county-wide basis.  Our transports are long, our patients often are very ill, and our mountainous terrain often precludes the use of medevac.  We transport to four different hospitals located in three different EMS Councils.  Our Operating Medical Director, as well as our protocols are aggressive.

Firefighting is not a part of the job responsibilities for these positions, however in Nelson County EMS crews respond to every fire call, and therefore firefighter certification is preferred.

The schedule for these three providers will be the standard 24/48 rotation used by most career departments.  Staff will be moved throughout the county based upon need.  All Nelson County agencies participate in an arrangement which moves volunteer equipment through the career system on a rotating basis.  The ambulances vary greatly, as does the equipment found on board.  Successful providers need to be versatile, diligent, and patient.  Successful applicants will understand and respect the contributions of an EMS volunteer.

The salary band for this position is $35,000 - $45,000.  The hire-point will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.  Wintergreen offers a very competitive benefit package including a 5% contribution to a retirement 401k without requiring an employee match.

Interested parties should submit a resume complete with educational and work experience, training certificates and references.  Email the resume to Chief Curtis Sheets.

Resumes will be accepted until close of business on May 15, 2012.

Wintergreen is an equal opportunity employer.
