Purpose:
The Purpose of this policy is to establish appropriate radio decorum when responding to medical calls in Augusta County to ensure that credit will be given to both the Fire Department and Rescue Squad for the call.
This is per request of the Augusta County officials.
The Fire Department does not have any first-due medical responsibility in Augusta County and therefore is not likely to get credit for running as many calls as the Rescue Squad. To balance the call distribution, the staff member on a medical call will be considered a firefighter and the volunteer will be considered the rescue member.
Policy:
When dispatched to a medical event in Augusta County, the first ambulance to mark responding on the Augusta County operational frequency shall state the following;
ÒAugusta ECC, Òappropriate level ### is responding with fire personnel on board.Ó This will assign both agencies an incident report and therefore both a medical and a fire report must be completed.
There is no need to mark-up in this manner with Wintergreen or Nelson Dispatch.
