Purpose: The purpose of this SOG is to create a uniform procedure on responding to structure related calls

 

Policy: “Structure related calls” Include but are not limited to alarms, smoke or smell of smoke in a structure, chimney fire, or any confirmed fire in a structure.

 

Station 1

Truck 1 and an engine will respond. (Unless Inclement Weather)

 

Truck 1 shall go to the scene and proceed with the investigation or suppression activities

 

The second in apparatus should secure the hydrant.

Station 2

Two Engines will respond.

 

The first in apparatus shall go to the scene and proceed with the investigation or suppression activities.

 

The second in apparatus should secure the hydrant.

One operator should stand by with the first in apparatus in case a condition warrants rapid advancement of hose lines.

 

Personnel entering the structure will have full turnout gear and SCBA on until situation is deemed safe.

 

Under fire or IDLH (immediate danger to life or health) atmosphere conditions, the 2 in / 2 out rule will be utilized (SOG #02-004). Two firefighters will be at the point of entry with a charged hose line and RIT Pack backing up the interior attack team.
