Purpose:

The purpose of this guideline is to establish how to request aeromedical services to the scene of an incident.

 

Policy:

Following the Trauma Triage plan for aeromedical transportation, the Incident Commander will contact the appropriate dispatch center on the assigned operational frequency to request the availability of aeromedical transportation.

 

The following information shall be provided to Dispatch upon the request:

• How many patients
• Priority of patient(s)
• Age, weight, and sex of patient(s)
• Location of Landing Zone

 

Upon request, the dispatch center will contact the closest available aeromedical service. 

 

In the event the closest aeromedical service is not available, the dispatch center will contact the next accessible aeromedical service and provide the Incident Commander with the estimated time of arrival.

 

Once Dispatch has provided the necessary information, the Incident Commander will advise whether or not to summon aeromedical services to the Landing Zone.
