Wintergreen Fire and Rescue Stations
Station 1 was built in the early 1980's, expanded in the early 1990's and then expanded once more in 2007 to make room for the 100' long ladder truck. This six-bay station accommodates one Engine, one Aerial, two Ambulances, a Brush Truck, one Response SUV, and one 4-wheeler. Administration offices for the department are located on the first floor. Meeting space, living space, kitchen, gym, and two bunk rooms can be found on the second floor.
Station 2 was constructed in the early 90's. It doubled in size in late 1990's. In 2014 the four bays were added on the front and the interiors renovated to include improved bunk rooms, a new entry, and new kitchen and living area. A volunteer office is also located at this station. This eight-bay station accommodates one engine, a Heavy Squad Truck, one Tanker, one Attack Pumper, three ambulances, a Brush Truck, and two Response SUV's. This station hosts the "County Crews" on the weekends, which answers EMS calls in Nelson County.
