Humpback Rocks Fire

November 12th, 2016 - Wintergreen Fire Department was dispatched to Humpback Rock for a camp fire out of control. Upon arrival, a large column of smoke was witnessed and crews immediately added additional companies to assist with the fire.

The fire was eventually located approximately two miles into the woods moving slowly up the mountain side. The fire burned approximately two acres and was gotten under control by raking a fire line around the perimeter. Once under control the scene was turned over to the Virginia Department of Forestry.
