The insurance industry rates Wintergreen's firefighting abilities among the best

ISO is the private risk assessment company which establishes strict quality benchmarks and metrics from which most insurance companies bases their premiums on risk of fire.

In December 2016, we received a formal notification stating that Wintergreen had gone from a Class 3 to Class 2 status. (See the letter HERE.)

This higher rating should lower insurance premiums for Wintergreen property owners about eight percent, saving our community over $50,000 overall.

ISO scores range from 10 to 1, with 1 being the best. There are very few Class 1 departments in Virginia.

When the audit of our service finished in 2013, we reported that of the 776 departments scored in Virginia, only 19 had a score of 3 or higher. At Class 3, we ranked among the top 3% of all Virginia fire departments. And now we are even higher ranked.

None of this would be possible without the support of our community.  We sincerely thank all the owners who continue to support us.–Chief Curtis Sheets
