MVC - Blue Ridge Parkway, MM 17

Wintergreen Fire Department and Wintergreen Rescue Squad were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on the Blue Ridge Parkway at approximately mile marker 17 for a vehicle over the embankment with one entrapped.

After arriving on scene units found a truck off the road leaning against a tree with two occupants. The driver was able to get his leg free prior to arrival, however neither occupant was able to get out due to injuries and angle of the vehicle. The vehicle was stabilized and patients were removed with low angle rescue efforts. One patient was transported to UVA and one to Augusta Health.

Units on scene were Attack 5, Squad 1, Medic 179, Chief Riddle, Montibello Fire, Waynesboro First Aid Crew, and US Park Police.
